• Fast Pass is a Disney World thing, Universal Studios has what’s called an Express Pass at Universal. They help guests have an alternative to waiting in line for many of the most popular attractions. Only 2 weeks away until your family goes on vacation to visit Mickey & Minnie or Shamu in Orlando, Florida, but now you start wondering if the place that you are renting allows your loving dog Fido or your cat Georgina.

Don’t panic!  Call the Orlando hotel or vacation rental local manager and find out as soon as possible if they allow pets.  Some might ask you put down an extra security deposit or pay a cleaning fee and others will say sorry we don’t allow pets, but you can always ask them to help you find a home that allows pets.

Why not bring your pets on vacation?

Here are some some tips to keep your pets safe, in a good mood, and be ready for emergency situations when traveling by car or plane:

• When making a reservation in a hotel or Orlando vacation home make sure you ask if they will accept your loving family pet. Let them know how many lbs and how big is your pet in case if they have weight limitations. Some Orlando pet friendly hotels only accepts certain breeds of dogs and sizes. Make sure you that you print out the leasing contract and confirmation saying that they will accept your pet. 

• Remember that most bus and train companies, such as Greyhound and Amtrak, do not allow pets on board so plan accordingly. 

• Ask the local manager of the place you are staying at  if he or she  can recommend any emergency veterinary clinics in the area in case your pets needs it.  If they don’t know use google or maybe even try tripadvisor.com for a few tips.

• Prepare a traveling pack for your pet that includes car carriers (perfect for cats), leash, bones, food, water, toys, and bowls.  Some hotels or vacation homes might want you to keep pets on crates when you are not with them.

•   If traveling from another country to Orlando, Florida then your pets will need proof of a rabies vaccination. Most airlines require proof as well.

• Take ice cubes to ensure that your pets are hydrated without having to stop every few minutes to give them water.  Or you can try the Flydog’s Spill-Proof Travel Bowl and see if it works. 

• Bring your Pet’s ID. Please verify that your pet has up to date ID tags with names, a reachable phone number, and person to contact.

• Be sure to have a comfortable collar and leash. Keep your pet on the leash since it will be in a new environment.

• Maintain feeding to a minimum before departing. Give them food 2-3 hours before you leave home.

• If you are traveling by car stop for breaks to stretch and so your loving pet can use the bathroom. Rest stops are perfect for this. Use your GPS to find rest areas.

Ask your vet if a sedative will be OK for your pet, it help for long trips and if they are not used to traveling. You could try taking them on short rides in the car the week before your travel to get them more comfortable.
